Kidz Run the Show at Boston Interactive for a Day
The week between Christmas and New Years is usually a slow week for companies. Many parents take the time off to spend with their children and families. Boston Interactive thought this would be a great time to invite the kids in and have fun learning about what mom and dad do all day while they are at school. The children weren't let off the hook, they were tasked with creating their very own website. Mixed in with a few games of ping pong and a pizza lunch, the kids worked together to determine the design, content, and strategy for their website.
To kick off the annual BI Kidz Day Website Project, CEO Chuck Murphy and VP of Business Development, Jim Keller led the nine children in a brainstorming session. Ideas included Boston scenery, candy, and animals as well as the incorporation of interactive games. The concepts forged the way for the design process where each BI Kid created a sketch of the homepage. Once handed off to Boston Interactive's design team, the sketches were molded together to create two digital homepage concepts that were presented to the BI Kids for a final vote and decision. Once the decision was made, the winning design was handed off to CTO Scott Noonan for final development and a celebratory launch. You can view the website here: www.bikidz.com.
While at the office, the BI Kids used Boston Interactive's eye tracking lab to learn how websites are tested for quality assurance. Through a focused examination of Where's Waldo, the Kids took turns watching each other's eyes move across the screen as they searched for the hidden character.
"BI Kidz Day was a great opportunity to have a little fun during the holidays and give our kids a taste of what we do each day at work" said Murphy. "As much as the kids enjoyed themselves, it was really a fun event for the entire office. We're already looking forward to next year."
